Australian Drifting Grand Prix

16 Jun 2012

After the success of the 2011 event, The Just Car Insurance Australian Drifting Grand Prix is returning to the Calder Park Raceway Thunderdome on the 16th and 17th of June. In preparation for what is Round 2 of this year’s season, we recently visited the track to look at making some changes for the 2012 event. The track layout will remain basically the same, with wall scraping action, but the dropping of time attack from the event and the splitting of drivers into Pro and Privateer classes will mean even more drifting action on track for spectators. We will also be increasing the length of the pit walk and holding pre-arranged autograph signing sessions with the drivers plus a whole bunch of interactive competitions and entertainment to provide the best value for money for young and old.

We also looked at solutions for better access and viewing for this year’s event as well. Spectators will now be able to get even closer to the action, this time on the other side of the fence, thanks to some better designed and laid out grandstands and viewing areas. Our main goal is to eliminate the viewing problems from 2011. Access to the event will now be from the Calder Freeway through the main entrance and we will be parking all cars inside the Thunderdome, meaning you don’t have to walk as far to the action, and it will be included in the ticket price this year for better value for money.

Being back at the Thunderdome brought back many great memories and we are very excited about this years event. Our aim is to bring you the best drifting action in the land as well as provide the best value for money! We hope to see you there. You can get more information from the website.
